New Sound for Radio 1
The most listened-to news station in the Netherlands relaunched with a new program schedule, to provide listeners with more urgent news, as well as service magazines. PURE Jingles gave them a new sound.
CREDIBILITY
Radio 1 wanted a package that breathes news, while being open, inviting and positive at the same time. Also the sonic logo is new. The only thing that’s left from ‘Radio 1.0’ is the warm, characteristic sound of station voice Hans Hogendoorn. Listeners immediately recognize him and he gives the station authority and credibility.
The package not only includes on-air imaging for news, weather, traffic and other format elements, but also idents for specific programs during the day. To give it all a classy touch, the composers added an extra sound layer to the contemporary music tracks and effects: real violins.
STRENGTH
Radio 1 is the third national broadcasting news station to hire PURE Jingles for their imaging job. “It’s a positive signal from the market”, says Creative Director Diederick Huizinga. “Two years ago, the perception in the broadcast industry was that we only did CHR packages, beacuse the trendy jingles we create for hit stations like NRJ and 3FM. Which is still our strength. But with customers like Radio 1 on board, we show that we can also create packages for very specific formats.”
Radio 1 Editor-in-Chief Laurens Borst: “No matter what the station and its format is, on-air imaging is a key element. It helps listeners to recognize you, and communicates your unique selling propositions. Our new package from PURE is dynamic, fast and complete. It’s exactly how Radio 1 has to sound.”
