Wise Choice for Key 103

Last week Bauer Media’s Key 103 in Manchester began airing a brand new imaging package produced by London’s Wise Buddah. The new package includes jingles, station imaging and power intros with an agreement for ongoing updates on a regular basis.

Wise Buddah have previously worked with 4 of the 9 Bauer ‘Big City’ network stations; namely Viking FM, Metro Radio, Radio Aire and Hallam FM. They can now add Key 103 to the growing list.

Key 103 station director Gary Stein said: “Manchester is a big, noisy marketplace. We wanted to create a sound for the radio station that stands out from the crowd, that is contemporary and that fits with our music policy and playlist. What we liked about Wise Buddah was that they worked really closely with us to get the sound that we wanted, maintaining our sonic logo but modernizing it and making it fit with the hits that we play. The ongoing agreement works well for us because it means that the imaging and jingles can adapt as we change our playlist. Together we’ve created something that will evolve over time.”

Wise Buddah’s Paul Plant added: “Some companies produce jingles that sound like jingles, which is fine in certain circumstances but we encourage our writers to produce imaging that sounds like the music being played on the station. This fitted perfectly with what Key 103 were after.”

Radio Paloma 2012 AC Jingles

Behind the Skala FM 2012 Jingles

Morten Petersen, Imaging Director of Skala FM Denmark, has gotten in touch with us to say how happy he is with his station’s new jingles from Wise Buddah. It was a long process as you’ll read below, but it was all worth the effort in the end.

“For more than one and a half years, Skala FM’s new sound has been in the making. It may seem like a long time, but the process of making the right decision was very important for us. We knew roughly what we wanted, but how did it fit into our core-listeners mind? Would our thoughts and desires repel or attract them?

The process started with listening to jingles from all over the world in order to gather the elements that best suited for us and then presenting it in focus groups throughout the winter of 2010. More than 100 listeners were invited. They gave their opinion about jingles and imaging, and it turned out to be beneficial for the station.

We knew some things from the previous package that worked well for our station should be integrated into our new package. (I think there are very few stations that are lucky to have listeners sing the top of hour when they see a logo for the station, or meet one of the DJs somewhere.)

Once all the lessons learned from the focus groups were brought to the table, we made a 15-page brief to Wise Buddah who produced package. The jingles, the instruments and the style were explained down to the smallest detail so it was easy and understandable to work with.

After 6 months we finished composing the package, so we headed out to a studio in Denmark, far out in the country to do the vocal session. After 3 days of singing and fun with the company of good friends we were ready to head back to the studio in London to mix the package.

The project may seem like it took a very long time, but the more I think of the way we did it, the more convinced I am we did the right thing. One thing is to call a jingle-company and order a new jingle package, another thing is to actually work with the composer and get him to understand our thoughts.

To work with such dedicated people just makes the process so much easier.

Everytime I listen to my jingles I get a feeling of ‘we’ve hit the exact 2012-sound for our station’. There´s nothing left to chance. And I´m sure the sound will take us onto the next level imaging-wise.”

The Superstation Jingles from TM Studios

If you call yourself The Superstation, you need super jingles to match! Orkney’s The Superstation have taken delivery of a resing of TM Studios‘ popular Channel 4 Hot AC package, which contains five powerful themes and a stack of mixes and versions.

Station Manager Dave Miller is delighted with the result, saying: “They are truly wonderful very very happy; thank you for making them sound fantastic. We have had so many great comments about them since they went live.”

Purchased through TM’s UK rep Ignite Studios, the Channel 4 Hot AC package has previously been sung for stations across the UK, including Radio Plymouth, Bay Radio Swansea, Bolton FM and Kingdom FM.

The Unheard Johnny Vaughan Capital FM launch jingles

When working on the launch for the new Capital FM breakfast show with Johnny Vaughan, Capital’s production team put out a request for jingle concepts from various production companies. 3 demo cuts were produced by the guys at ReelWorld featuring a variation on Capital’s old heritage station sonic logo.

FM Italia Jingle Package 2011

2011… a year with plenty of Scoop(s)

In a wavering European economy there are still stations that go for broke (hopefully not literally) and invest in on-air imaging. Radio Scoop, a popular CHR in the south-east of France, has upped their game in terms of using jingles.

Radio Scoop wants to play a broad variety of jingles and stay on top of music trends. The producers at PURE Jingles got a chance to start cranking out another 10 jingle themes, less than 6 months after they finished producing the Radio Scoop Spring 2011 package.

Guitars
This time around PURE’s creative team was happy to dust off the guitars for a couple of jingles and they listened heavily to the mixing styles of producers like The Smeezingtons, Swedish House Mafia and Rizzle Kicks.

Mix N Match Jingles for Xmas

‎’Tis the season to be jolly! MNM shifts into holiday mode with the Mix N Match X-mas versions.

MNM, the Belgian public broad-caster’s hit radio, organized an international competition for its new on-air imaging. After a first selection a shortlist of 6 European imaging companies was selected.

“MNM chose Brandy because we instantly felt good about working together; we wanted fresh jingles with a contemporary sound and that’s exactly what we found in Brandy’s proposals.”

Brandy created a new sonic logo that incor-porated both the station’s name and the slogan: ‘Music & More, MNM’. The package consists of 16 basic cuts, delivered in an abundance of mixouts, and imaging for news, weather, traffic and commercial breaks. 4 super functional beds make the package complete.

Low Cost Radio Jingles Triple Update

The company produced automn custom IDs which all inspired by North European songs.

Flamin’ new AC package for Germany’s RPR1

It used to be that a radio station would either fork over all their money and have a custom jingle package produced. Or they would get an existing package from a station some where on the other side of the world re-sung. Actually… come to think of it… that still seems to be standard practice.

PURE Jingles decided that they would really love to give customers a virtually unlimited set of possibilities when it comes to producing jingles. And, as a result, German station RPR1. was another example of a satisfied customer walking out the door of the Hilversum studios.

Custom made
RPR1. needed specific openers and beds, which meant that a part of the budget was set aside to have the PURE team compose and tweak until the result was exactly what the station was hoping for.

Customized resing
A lot of other elements were lifted from the PURE JingleBox, a collection of over 330 cuts which can be auditioned at www.purejingles.com/jinglebox. With these elements the main focus was getting them in line with the overall sound of the package, and replacing the existing logos with RPR1.’s sonic signature.

In the end, RPR1.’s program director got the most out of his budget and, like he told us, ‘the quality of the production and vocalists makes RPR1. shine like it’s got a new coat of paint’.

Jingle Q – X-mas package

Q-music pulls out all stops to become THE Christmas station of The Netherlands.

The station has always had a lot of attention for its imaging. Now they do away with all regular imaging elements for a couple of weeks and put on a fresh seasonal jacket.

Q found the basis in Jingle JOE, which was produced for JOE fm in Belgium. The package has gotten a makeover so it fits perfectly with today’s hits. But the obligatory chimes, tambourines and Christmas bells are still there. Yes, Christmas can also sound contemporary.

The icing on the (Christmas) cake is a new custom made Top of Hour.

The Making of 3FM Jingle Package

Brandy Power Intros for Hard Rock FM Indonesia

After reinventing the power intro and using it to put Q-music on the map in Europe, Brandy launches its power intro service now in Asia as well. Hard Rock FM, Indonesia’s leading Broadcast Media Group pop cross-over station, has had its first package produced. The first reactions are extremely enthusiastic.

NOVAZ images News Talk Radio in the Netherlands

Radio 1 is the number one rated news talk station in the Netherlands. NOVAZ Audio Imaging were asked to produce a package for Radio 1′s Real Jan radio show. The show is presented by two guys named Jan. This isnt just talk radio, it’s real man giving you all the insights.

Since the show airs at midnight, Radio 1 were looking for something sounding big and typical ‘late night’.

Some time ago, TM Studios brought you Today’s Favourite Music for TFM Radio. And now, Teesside’s TFM have come back for more.

Four years on, TFM Radio 2011 comes with 9 new cuts in a variety of themes to provide your station with fresh imaging along with the usual mixouts.

Puissance Production, French Radios All Dress-Up for winter.

This summer the producers of Puissance Production had quite some work to do: more than sixty jingles packages in three months. New members entered the team, with new singers and new voices.

Ignite Jingles hits Europe with XFM Malta

Ignite Jingles is proud to announce that XFM Malta is the latest station, and the first outside the UK, to use the popular Cool FM package.

Rebranding with the new tagline “Where The 90s Live”, XFM took delivery of the complete Cool FM jingle package, plus also a large package of sweepers from Ignite’s sister company Devaweb.

NOVAZ Audio imaging is the audio design department of NOVAZ Media Group and is founded by the guys that have been imaging many leading Dutch stations like Yorin FM, RTL FM, SLAM!FM, Arrow, Decibel and KX Radio. Following on from the success of their , they have been asked to create a brand new package for 2FM for 2012.

People want to change the world, but don’t know how to begin. NOVAZ work on one act of passionate creativity at a time. They build it, stations play it. Simple.

The brief from 2FM was for amore dance orientated CHR sound that matched todays hit music. Listen to the 2012 TOH, BOH, basic ids and shotguns for 2FM the Netherlands below.

92.5 The Beat Montreal Launches With Heart Packages

On September 6, 2011, at 4PM (EDT) after playing Bon Jovi’s “Never Say Goodbye”, CFQR was relaunched as a Rhythmic Hot AC, adopting the monicker “9-2-5 The Beat” (the 9-2-5 referring to “9 to 5″), with Michael Jackson’s “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’” as the first song. It launched with cuts from all three of IQ Beats’ Heart radio imaging packages (Heart Jingle Package 3, Heart Jingle Package 2, Heart Jingle Package 1).

They produced a number of re-sings of the various Heart packages over the years and this one is proving to be one of their favorites. The folks calling the shots at the Beat wanted the singers to deviate from the 3 note melody logo – Letting things unfold in a more adlib fashion.

The results highlight a new dimension to where this package can be taken vocally. IQ think it’s a perfect fit for 925 The Beat. Listen to a montage of the cuts below, or an aircheck of the cuts in use at the bottom of the post.

Mark Stafford, Creative Director said “As we were looking to re-image our stale AC radio station into something fresh and vibrant, one of the most challenging aspects of the procedure was finding a jingle company to work with. One that would fit all our needs. When we heard what IQ Beats were doing, we knew they would be perfect for what we were looking to achieve.

We wanted to step away from the established and expected style of jingle production and these guys got it big time. When we said we didn’t want a traditional stacked vocal sound, I could feel them smiling on the other end of the line and we took off from there.

They were willing to try anything that would enable the vocalists to freely express themselves. The resulting package is one that seamlessly flows throughout the day with the jingles feeling like they are an integrated part of the musical experience we are trying to offer our listeners and not a obligation to identify ourselves.

Great work, great talent, great results. Our re-branding is already creating a fresh new buzz on the street in Montreal and a lot of that’s due to IQ Beats!”
