Spirit FM appointed S2blue to produce their new imaging package. The package features S2blue’s ‘new sound’ – fresh and contemporary beat-driven beds with great solo vocals, providing Spirit FM with imaging that lends a fresh, new vibrant sound to the station.

Simon Prentice, Managing Director of S2blue commented:

“Over the past few months we’ve been working on a number of custom packages featuring our ‘new sound’. This was a great project to work on – the package features two great vocalists in Martina O’Brian and Chris Madin which blend brilliantly with the tracks, composed by Lee Turner. New imaging for BBC Radio Humberside & BBC Radio Cumbria

S2blue Imaging are pleased to announce they have recently refreshed imaging for both BBC Radio Humberside and BBC Radio Cumbria.

Each package includes additional cuts, new instrumentation on existing cuts and fresh vocals in a traditional group style.

BBC Radio Cumbria went live with their refreshed package last Monday, following on from BBC Radio Humberside, who went live with their new package a few weeks ago.

“We’ve really enjoyed working with the BBC stations again and revisiting these great packages.

Over the years we have been lucky enough to work on many packages for BBC local stations. The original packages for Cumbria and Humberside were really exciting to work on – the Humberside sessions especially stick in the mind as we recorded overdubs with the full BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.”

“BBC Radio Humberside starting talking to s2blue about its need for a new imaging package in 2004, with our specially commissioned package going on air at the end of the summer the following year. It featured an amazing sound created by Maurice Cheetham, working with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and S2blue’s production skills. They met the brief to give us a really memorable audio logo and a sound created specially for us. Two other BBC stations went on to adopt the same audio themes.
Over the next few years we’ve returned to S2blue to ‘top-up’ the package and record new elements to keep it refreshed. However, we felt that after almost five years on air, the time was right for a major revamp. The creative team at S2blue have just completed the work on laying down new instrumentation and effects alongside parts of the original recordings and have completed a set of brand new idents to expand the package further.
Working with Maurice, Steve and Simon, as well as their amazing team of musicians and singers, was a delight again. They offer fantastically creative solutions to the problems we throw their way; simply understanding how to translate our ideas into reality. They do so quickly and with real flair. Werrepark Radio’s 2010 jingles

Werrepark Radio in Germany has been provided a new jingle package by TM Europe.

After airing Kissville since 2008, they changed to the full Viking FM package.

The package perfectly fits the music that is played on Werrepark Radio. The package has a very clear logo and lots of different mix outs. Each theme has a ramp, slogan, ID and shotgun mixes. And on top of that al the ramp jingles come with extra acoustic versions and lots of mix outs.

Radio 8FM the Netherlands 2010

Radio 8FM in the Netherlands decided it was time for a new jingle package. They choose a composite from TM Europe.

All jingles have been edited and remixed especially for Radio 8FM so that the original Radio 8FM logo is maintained. It is a very extensive package; not only because of the large number of tracks; but above all also because of the number of singers.

To sing this package TM Europe invited a total of 7 male and female singers in the studio. One of the voices is Jodie Kean. She recently scored a hit with the song ‘Mad World’.

WZPL airs Capital jingles

Z99.5 WZPL in Indianapolis, IN has rolled out a bangin’ version of IQ Beat’s 95.8 Capital FM package. The airing of the package also marks the debut of the Capital package in the U.S.

Their version is not without a special twist as it sees the creation of Super Shotgun length mixes of the cuts just the right size for dropping their call letters like they’re hot. Hi FM appointed S2blue to produce a new imaging package with the brief to make them stand out in the market – something fresh and contemporary, that would fit with the today’s music.

The custom package features S2blue’s ‘new sound’ of contemporary beat driven beds and fresh solo vocals, on this occasion provided by noted Manchester singer Denise Johnson, who has worked with artists such as Primal Scream, Ian Brown and Electronica.

“This was a great project to work on – we’d worked with Darren on the previous Hi FM package and we really wanted to create a new sound that really moved the imaging on for them.

David Arnold goes back into radio

A man who’s created some of the most recognisable sounds and themes on our airwaves during the last 30 years, is once again venturing back into the radio industry.

Music composer, conductor and producer David Arnold, who has just re-branded the Sky News themes for the launch of its all-new HD channel, is offering his talents to radio stations.

During a career spanning nearly 40 years, he has conducted many leading orchestras, including the Royal Philharmonic. For the last ten years, he has been Associate Conductor of the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.

Classic FM has David to thank for its original jingles, and many of his arrangements and variations have been heard on the national station.

He is the current musical director for the BBC’s Children In Need event and can name the likes of Rod Stewart, Annie Lennox, Tina Turner and Donny Osmond with whom he’s worked with. His hundreds of television credits include BBC One idents, Blue Peter, Guinness World Records, The Big Breakfast, Live and Kicking and Tomorrow’s World.

David has the ability and experience to create a unique sound for a particular show or segment, a distinctive full station package, including sung jingles, themes, news, weather and travel beds, or relicense and revamp past packages.

David said: “I’m excited about potential new opportunities to become involved with the radio industry, which has been the inspiration for so many pioneering ideas in music and entertainment during the past three decades.

Wise Buddah re sings for Pirate FM

Pirate FM in Cornwall is the latest station to have Wise Buddah’s EZ Rock package re sung.

With Pirate FM on board, this brings the total number of UK stations with the Wise Buddah (www.wisebuddah.com) EZ Rock package to eight.

Over the past year the EZ Rock package has also been re-sung across the world – with territories including Canada, Germany, Austria, Thailand and Hungary.

Pirate FM programme director Bob McCreadie said:

“We’re really happy with the new station production sound. It’s really fresh and energetic and will give our station sound a summer makeover.

In Spring 2010 Dubai’s Coast 103.2 came back to Wise Buddah for a re-sing of their highly acclaimed Boom 973 package. Originally produced for the Toronto market, the package has been met with huge approval from the team at Coast 103.2…

S2Blue Hits China with U Radio Package

S2Blue produced its first jingle package for a Chinese station – U Radio 105.7. It is a station owned by Phoenix TV and broadcasts in Shenzhen City, which is in Guangdong Province, China.

The station plays an eclectic mix of music – from contemporary western pop to easy listening and so U Radio chose resings from a wide range of our packages – cuts came from the recent Mansfield 103.2 custom, our Connect & Lite package and even some cuts from the packages Steve originally recorded for Magic 1152 and the Saga stations.
