Wise Choice for Key 103

Last week Bauer Media’s Key 103 in Manchester began airing a brand new imaging package produced by London’s Wise Buddah. The new package includes jingles, station imaging and power intros with an agreement for ongoing updates on a regular basis.

Wise Buddah have previously worked with 4 of the 9 Bauer ‘Big City’ network stations; namely Viking FM, Metro Radio, Radio Aire and Hallam FM. They can now add Key 103 to the growing list.

Key 103 station director Gary Stein said: “Manchester is a big, noisy marketplace. We wanted to create a sound for the radio station that stands out from the crowd, that is contemporary and that fits with our music policy and playlist. What we liked about Wise Buddah was that they worked really closely with us to get the sound that we wanted, maintaining our sonic logo but modernizing it and making it fit with the hits that we play. The ongoing agreement works well for us because it means that the imaging and jingles can adapt as we change our playlist. Together we’ve created something that will evolve over time.”

Wise Buddah’s Paul Plant added: “Some companies produce jingles that sound like jingles, which is fine in certain circumstances but we encourage our writers to produce imaging that sounds like the music being played on the station. This fitted perfectly with what Key 103 were after.”

Radio Paloma 2012 AC Jingles

Behind the Skala FM 2012 Jingles

Morten Petersen, Imaging Director of Skala FM Denmark, has gotten in touch with us to say how happy he is with his station’s new jingles from Wise Buddah. It was a long process as you’ll read below, but it was all worth the effort in the end.

“For more than one and a half years, Skala FM’s new sound has been in the making. It may seem like a long time, but the process of making the right decision was very important for us. We knew roughly what we wanted, but how did it fit into our core-listeners mind? Would our thoughts and desires repel or attract them?

The process started with listening to jingles from all over the world in order to gather the elements that best suited for us and then presenting it in focus groups throughout the winter of 2010. More than 100 listeners were invited. They gave their opinion about jingles and imaging, and it turned out to be beneficial for the station.

We knew some things from the previous package that worked well for our station should be integrated into our new package. (I think there are very few stations that are lucky to have listeners sing the top of hour when they see a logo for the station, or meet one of the DJs somewhere.)

Once all the lessons learned from the focus groups were brought to the table, we made a 15-page brief to Wise Buddah who produced package. The jingles, the instruments and the style were explained down to the smallest detail so it was easy and understandable to work with.

After 6 months we finished composing the package, so we headed out to a studio in Denmark, far out in the country to do the vocal session. After 3 days of singing and fun with the company of good friends we were ready to head back to the studio in London to mix the package.

The project may seem like it took a very long time, but the more I think of the way we did it, the more convinced I am we did the right thing. One thing is to call a jingle-company and order a new jingle package, another thing is to actually work with the composer and get him to understand our thoughts.

To work with such dedicated people just makes the process so much easier.

Everytime I listen to my jingles I get a feeling of ‘we’ve hit the exact 2012-sound for our station’. There´s nothing left to chance. And I´m sure the sound will take us onto the next level imaging-wise.”

NOVAZ images News Talk Radio in the Netherlands

Radio 1 is the number one rated news talk station in the Netherlands. NOVAZ Audio Imaging were asked to produce a package for Radio 1′s Real Jan radio show. The show is presented by two guys named Jan. This isnt just talk radio, it’s real man giving you all the insights.

Since the show airs at midnight, Radio 1 were looking for something sounding big and typical ‘late night’.

NOVAZ created music for their show opener, a show closer and sweepers and beds for all the segments on the show. Listen to them below.

TFM Radio 2011 from TM Studios

Some time ago, TM Studios brought you Today’s Favourite Music for TFM Radio. And now, Teesside’s TFM have come back for more.

Four years on, TFM Radio 2011 comes with 9 new cuts in a variety of themes to provide your station with fresh imaging along with the usual mixouts.

Wise Buddah Rebrands Sky Radio, Holland

After 23 years, Holland’s non-stop hit music station, Sky Radio made the big decision to change their musical logo, and chose Wise Buddah to provide their new sound for 2012.

The custom package comprises of 20 main cuts, each delivered with up to 5 different strap lines as well as Information Elements and a Commercial ID.

Anthony Timmers, Imaging Consultant for Sky Radio comments on his Buddah experience:

“The new Sky Radio jingles are unbelievably great! For me personally it was the first time working directly with the WB crew and it was a wise decision.

Edgy imaging for Belgium’s Studio Brussel

Being edgy and different has definitely paid off for Studio Brussel over the years. The alternative station is part of public broadcaster VRT and has a much larger market share than similar stations in other countries.

It is not unusual for successful stations to ‘stick to what they did before’ in an attempt to keep their audience coming back. Studio Brussel, on the other hand, has attracted listeners by thinking outside the box and their drive to keep on surprising them.

RTL Radio explores new horizons with Brandy

RTL Radio in Luxembourg has stepped into autumn with a refreshed aural identity. RTL is the largest and most successful media group in Europe. The new sonic logo, instrumental station idents and beds for weather and traffic were created by Brandy.

RTL Radio Lëtzebuerg ordered a compact package of super-functional imaging tools, instrumental idents that can be used in spoken word blocks as well as in musical programmes.The package is called “Horizon”. The custom made jingles radiate credibility, confidence and friendliness.

Horizon is built around a strong aural dual logo whose last 3 notes will also be used separately. The idents are provided in versions with and without station voice. ReelWorld Fulfills Dream Of A Make-A-Wish Beneficiary

ReelWorld, the world’s leading jingle company, does not only provide professional station identification jingles for stations worldwide, it also fulfills the wish of a differently-abled teenager – to have his own jingle package.

Seattle Weekly Journalist Julia Waterhous blogged about Noah Long, a beneficiary of the Make A Wish foundation (www.wish.org) and his interesting request.

While many kids would choose toys or a Disney land trip, the 18-year old Long chose to have his own jingles produced by no less than ReelWorld.

Noah is a big fan of the jingle company and has even made popular YouTube videos showcasing him singing along with country jingles.

“We had actually heard of Noah about a year before Bruno (Noah’s Grandfather) contacted us,” says Mike Thomas of ReelWorld. “He’s a bit of a YouTube sensation, doing his own vocals to some of our basic jingles. When his grandfather contacted me, I was delighted.”

The 18-year old teen was born blind with cerebral palsy and epilepsy.

Rebranding as Music FM with the help of PURE Jingles

Earlier in 2010 , PURE Jingles produced a JingleBox package for the Romanian station Radio Info Pro. Now, in 2011 , the station decided to rebrand itself as Music FM but wanted to keep some of the feel of the original package.

In discussions with the station it became obvious that the new Music FM was more music driven and targeting a Soft AC audience. To set the package apart from its earlier incarnation, the logo and slogan positions were switched (“Music FM – Just Music”) and the vocals were sung more smoothly. To give the station more material to work with, the entire package was also delivered in a lite mix-out version.

THE KICK Vol. 2 by BRANDY for One FM Switzerland & Soon On Air in 3 More Countries

One FM (Switzerland) launched a new slogan and took the opportunity to expand its jingle package with some new tracks. The slogan was integrated in The Kick Vol.1 and in 4 new jingles that blend in seamlessly between today’s hit records.

Radio Brocken switches to PURE Jingles

Alongside of German stations like Radio Regenbogen, Landes Welle, R.SA and Radio Nora, Radio Brocken (a major AC station in the Sachs Anhal region) have found that the PUE Jingles sound can set them a part from the competition.

Radio Brocken came to PURE Jingles hoping to get a feel good package that would give them a chance to make the station sound warm and friendly. Since ‘warm and friendly’ can very easily become bland and colourless the PURE Jingles team worked hard on finding the edge and putting a modern stamp on the jingles by using current pop sounds.

IQ Beats recently announced the release of a composite jingle package for Indonesia’s signature FM radio network – Hard Rock FM.

Contrary to its name, Hard Rock FM is actually a lifestyle and entertainment network that features the latest trends to its listeners.

The network airs in four locations at 87.6 in Jakarta, 87.7 in Bandung, 89.7 in Surabaya and 87.8 in Bali.

Hard Rock FM picked cuts from a mix of jingle packages namely: the Century FM, Heart Network 2, Heart Network 1, and Heart London package.

New Radio Scoop package from PURE Jingles

PURE Jingles have won over Radio Scoop, an important player in the south east of France, for a third time.

PURE Jingles has consistently been looking to build a long lasting relationship with their clients. The previous two packages for Radio Scoop had evolved around the whish to make a package that mirrored the wide variety of music styles on the station. During the latest package that emphasis shifted a little bit.

DANCE
Since the current crop of music stars from both Europe and America make heavy use of dance influences, the focus became a little narrower. This gave the composers and producers at PURE Jingles a great chance to dig deeper into certain musical styles.
