In his acceptance speech, Senior Producer of Station Sound Chris Reay thanked Wise Buddah for the production of the “amazing” jingle package.

The Judges added: “The new jingle package has breathed life and a freshness into the network. Combined with inventive trail production and clever scripting, this is a station that really knows its audience well and how best to use imaging to communicate the values of the brand to them.”

It was recorded with the BBC Concert Orchestra under the baton of Chris Masterson in several of London’s heritage recording studios, and has been acclaimed for reflecting the “enormous diversity” of the station whilst maintaining a “wonderfully consistent sound”.

Wise Buddah’s work for Radio 2 included contributions from the on air talent of BBC Radio 2, so we saw the likes of Fun Lovin’ Criminal Huey Morgan on guitar, blues legend Paul Jones on harmonica as well as vocal contributions from jazz singer Clare Teal and UK Soul Diva Beverley Knight.

In addition to this, the world famous, award winning London Community Gospel Choir were invited to provide vocals for Chris Evans’ Breakfast Show Jingles.

In all 100 musicians played their part in making this one of the most musically diverse radio jingle packages ever – from Blues to Gospel, Jazz to Classical, 80’s Pop to 00’s Rock and anthemic orchestral news and quiz themes.

In addition to news and information of the city, Haarlem 105 also has a wide music format. From jazz to hip hop and dance from soul to pop rock. The sung package consists of 7 full version jingles, a top of the hour, and jingles for news, weather and traffic.

There’s no other station that sounds like Haarlem 105. Along with a sung jingle package, Capital of Media will also refresh the station monthly with new imaging.

Virgin Radio 96 gave creative carte blanche to the studio for the production of their new audio branding. The project was to first and foremost create refined and rich songs coupled with a powerful dance vibe. All sound effects used were derived from the new library designed by Studios Peak, Plastic Surgery 2.

Virgin Radio 96 has 1.891 million listeners and a 27.6 market share among adults 25-54 in Montreal.

The station is proud to be the first to discover new artists and hits that find their way to mainstream radio only months later. Because of the broad playlist, NOVAZ are working on jingles that cover all those genres and still have distinctive strong recognizable sound.

In the meantime, they finished a new sweeper package getting this message across as well. TOTH, promo’s and station image sweeps. This example is in Dutch, but they can syndicate this in any language with any VO of choice.

The jingles are a re-sing of the successful Radio 538 package which originally aired on the market leading station in The Netherlands.

The digital subsidiary of mass-appeal Pop station 1LIVE, which reaches 1.1 million listeners per average hour in North Rhine-Westphalia, has undergone a major facelift. New format, new line-up, new website, new everything… so surely, jingles HAD to be part of their ‘stationality’ upgrade!

Commissioning PURE Jingles for the sound design of 1LIVE diggi ‘2.0’, the team was looking for a custom-made package to fit their Urban & Rhythmic Pop flavoured playlist. It had to make them sound modern and young, and appeal to their 15-25 year-old target audience. Going against the grain of some current musical styles, 1LIVE diggi were adamant that the cuts couldn’t, by any means, sound cheap or plastic. “There’s a trend in current music to go back to a feel of authenticity, and we liked that to be reflected in our imaging”, says the station’s format developer Robert Kindermann.

During a creative session at PURE Jingles, the core sounds for the station and the musical ‘DNA’ for the package were defined. Main challenge? Finding the right balance. “Exactly this – making us sound intense and dynamic, without coming across as stressful or annoying – PURE Jingles has accomplished very well”, 1LIVE diggi’s brand manager Torsten Remy explains. To distinguish themselves clearly from the outset, it was decided to avoid sung jingles. An 18-year-old girl with a very natural sound was chosen as the station voice.

“The presenters have great fun with the new jingles”, Robert Kindermann says about the package, based on 15 station IDs and music beds in several different styles. “These elements are super compatible with both our playlist and the variety of content we represent, such as news, events, comedy, and listener interaction. Until recently, P5 in Norway has been using mostly sweepers, as they find them easy to use and mix well with music. “But in addition, we wanted elements that could really make us stand out from the crowd”, Brennodden explains. “The new package from PURE Jingles does that. The way that the vocal parts are treated, is amazing.”

Instead of ‘cherry picking’ from the entire JingleBox collection of over 300 themes – like most radio stations do when they come to PURE – P5 just asked for one package, with the original logo melody. Why? “When we heard the Radio SCOOP 2013 demo, we completely fell in love with it. It’s so current, and it has a very positive and modern sound. We wanted nothing else.”

Experimenting with the station’s positioner (‘Byens største hits’, which means ‘The city’s biggest hits’), it was quickly decided to integrate both slogan and station name, and therefore sing ‘P5 Hits’ on the logo. The goal of this was to make the station name stronger, instead of using just a letter and a number, and to avoid a traditional jingle feel with loooooong slogans.

Steve Pigott is well known globally for his radio branding skills on the creative side and on the business side.
