Overture Remastered – A new version of a classic jingle package

On August 18th, 1997, Tom Merriman walked through the doors of the building that bears his name… TM Studios. During the recording sessions that followed, Tom created one of the best loved oldies jingle packages in recent history… Overture, for Bill Stedman, at Oldies 104.3 WOMC in Detroit.

13 years later, Bill Stedman is now at WMXJ – Majic 102.7 in Miami. He came back to TM with a challenge… to take Overture, and make it even better. So that’s exactly what we did! Introducing… Overture, Remastered!

Led by chief engineer Dave Giangiulio, The TM Studios team stripped the package down and cleaned up the original tracks, then built it back up again, adding new instrumentation and new vocals. Many hours later, the package was complete, and Bill Stedman loves it:

“The team at TM really delivered again. They used their industry-leading creative abilities to take an already incredible jingle package and freshen it. All across America, stations are evolving and so should the production values. If you’re playing the greatest hits, invite TM to help you score your station with “Overture Remastered”.”

And, just like in the original Overture jingle package, we’re including a range of beds, sounders and logos, all featuring the famous Drake melody. Also, for the first time ever, Overture is available in MPowerMix layers, giving you complete creative control to remix the tracks in your own production room.

Wow genius! gives me chills Paul! The magic of the Original overture is still there with a contemporary ooomph!

What a GREAT new version of this package, cutting edge vocals…

…and the ‘accapella in’ cuts work superbly…

A fitting tribute to Mr. Tom Merriman.

I am impressed–VERY impressed–in the tracks, the vocals, everything. I absolutely love the cymbal swooshes at the ends of cuts 5 and 7. It doesn’t take long to realize they took their time on this remake, and that time most certainly paid off. If this doesn’t sell well I’d be shocked.

  4. Bill Stedman says:

A personal ‘thank you’ to the whole gang @ TM for their enthusiasm for Overture – both times. Tom Merriman really enjoyed the original assignment & we believe that the updated version also makes him proud.

The several ‘long distance’ sessions – drums first, guitars next & then the vocals – were a hoot. Great creative people with positive energy that sparkled throughout the recording & mixing process.

Extra thumbs up to “Studio Dave”!

You can hear the tracks in context @ majic1027.com via our streaming player.

…btw, just learned of this site from ChrisUK @ TM & will visit again.

    Be well.

Gotta say, “Overture” sounds great on WWYW-FM here in northern IL.

It’s one of the main reasons why I listen to the station. The folks at TM did an amazing job re-vamping the package!
