Reelworld ONE airing in Chicago

B96Chicago’s B96 are now using the Reelworld ONE CHR suite of jingles, their latest weapon in the battle for ratings against archrival 103.5 Kiss FM. The station has broadcast a flavour of CHR since 1973 and was one of the stations to air the Hot Hits format in 1982 along with WCAU in Philadelphia and WHYT in Detroit. Since then the station evolved into a dance based Top 40 format in the late 1980s and a hip-hop based Top 40 format in the late 1990s. 103.5 Kiss FM launched in 2001 and managed to overtake B96 in the ratings in Spring 2006, however this hasn’t stopped B96 adopting the slogan “Chicago’s Number 1 Hit Music Station” in October 2008″.

On 21 November, B96 dropped their morning show team Eddie and JoBo after twenty years, although this is the second time Eddie and JoBo have left the station as they were fired in 1994 after multi-million dollar defamation lawsuit filed against them. They were rehired in 1997 after B96 had failed to find suitable replacements that could bring in the ratings.

B96 adopted their new Reelworld ONE jingles in Autumn 2008, they are the first they’ve had since 2005 when the station was known as ‘The Killer Bee, B96.3’.
